Avoira & the Environment

At Avoira we care about the communities and the environment that we all live and work in.

ISO 14001

ISO 14001

Our corporate social responsibility, environmental and carbon reduction policies detail our approach towards becoming carbon neutral by 2050, and our ISO 14001 accreditation demonstrates our commitment to identifying, managing, monitoring and controlling environmental processes.

We are a company not just focused on making big visionary statements, but rather we prefer to get on and get the job done.  Here are some of the practical steps we take…

and Supporting Hybrid working
Going Digital

and Supporting Hybrid working

We conduct our business electronically where possible.  If we don’t need to print something out, we can avoid using paper.  Additionally, the flexibility of hybrid working allows our staff to work where it’s convenient, which in turn can reduce energy consumption and allows us to reduce our emissions.

and Computers Off
Switching Lights

and Computers Off

When we leave a room and/or when we are not actively using our computers, we switch them off.  This reduces the amount of power used.  By turning them off and using low power modes we can all save energy.

and Recycle
Reuse

and Recycle

We run refurbishment and buy-back programs to give our customers the chance to reuse or recycle their old equipment.  We encourage our customers to take advantage of our used battery recovery service and to consider energy saving products. We also actively recycle across the business both in terms of packaging as well as by providing recycle bins throughout our facilities, including recycling bins in the workshop for Motorola & Non Motorola RoHS products.

Travel
Reducing

Travel

While we have to travel to install our solutions and operate our business, we do it sympathetically to the environment.  We ensure we use energy efficient fleet vehicles where possible and aim to move to electric powered vehicles when they are up for renewal.  Our Hybrid-working policy also allows our employees to reduce their travel, saving in lots of ways.

Awareness
Employee

Awareness

We require our engineers to take all due care and attention whilst working out on site to minimise the risk of environmental incidents. We also promote environmental awareness throughout the organisation by providing appropriate training, starting at induction.

Disposal
Waste

Disposal

We are considerate with our waste disposal by ensuring that our waste is safely and securely stored and disposed of by licensed contractors.

Suppliers
Working with

Suppliers

As part of a supply chain, we recognise that it’s essential that the whole supply chain addresses environmental issues. We review the use of packing materials to reduce unnecessary waste and we encourage our suppliers to do the same. Additionally, we are working with our suppliers towards EU RoHS and WEEE regulations for all products supplied.

Plan
Carbon Reduction

Plan

Our ongoing commitment to improve is implemented through our carbon reduction plan.  We are able to measure, track and report on our carbon footprint, and we have a carbon reduction plan which is reviewed annually and it can be found here.  Monitoring progress against set environmental targets encourages best practise.
